Founded in 1965, Greenville Community Theater is a non-profit, community theater company based in Scarsdale, NY (in Westchester County).
GCT produces two fully-staged shows a year (in the fall and in the spring) at Edgemont High School an attractive, comfortable and well-appointed theater of 304 seats. We present five or six performances per play over two weekends two Friday and Saturday nights and one or two Sunday matinees; sometimes we also do Thursday performances. Rehearsals are initially held at the Greenville Church, then move to the theater.
GCT staffs each play with an experienced Director, Stage Manager, Production Manager, and Set Designer. Other members head up committees that build, paint and decorate the set and provide lighting, sounds, props, costumes, makeup, playbill, publicity, photography, flyers, and front-of-the-house amenities. Sometimes as many as 80 members contribute to a show's success. Current Production
In addition to our major shows, we also produce eight workshops a year as part of our monthly membership meetings, held at the Greenville School. These entail 10-12 rehearsals for a Friday night performance. For the most part, workshops are one-act plays or scenes from longer works that, through the year, provide many opportunities for our members to act, direct, produce, stage manage, and gain experience in all phases of play production.
